Thank You for Standing with Sophie’s Legacy

At the Australian College of Veterinary Nursing (ACVN), we set out on a bold mission: to raise $25,000 in 25 weeks to support Sophie’s Legacy — a charity dedicated to improving mental health, inclusion, and working conditions for veterinary nurses and veterinarians.

Today, we’re sharing the results with mixed emotions — immense gratitude, a touch of humble reflection, and a huge thank-you to everyone who rallied behind this cause.

💛 The Final Tally

While we didn’t hit our ambitious $25,000 goal, the veterinary community showed up in a meaningful and powerful way. Together, we raised $7,750 — an achievement that will translate into real support for the people who care for animals every day.

Every short course purchased during the campaign contributed $50 to Sophie’s Legacy — and every one of those dollars represents someone who chose to care deeper and stand together.

🎙️ Why This Matters

Sophie’s Legacy was established in memory of Dr Sophie Putland, whose tragic death highlighted the pressures facing veterinary professionals. The charity honours Sophie’s life by advocating for mental health support, workplace inclusion, and industry-wide change to ensure that veterinary nurses and vets can thrive, not just survive.

The funds raised through this campaign will help Sophie’s Legacy continue that vital work — from mental health resources and community connection to advocacy that amplifies voices across the profession.

🌟 Heartfelt Thanks to Our Major Partners

This campaign would not have reached the impact it did without the generosity and support of our major partners. Their significant contributions played an important role in helping us raise funds for Sophie’s Legacy and in amplifying the message that mental health and wellbeing matter in our profession.

We extend our sincere thanks to the following partners for standing with us and supporting this campaign:

Ballarat Veterinary Practice

Vet nursing students practicing animal care skills.

Greencross Vets Chatswood

RSPCA NSW Hunter Shelter

Their support — alongside that of our wider community — helped turn this campaign into a meaningful show of collective care. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to supporting positive change within the veterinary industry.

🙌 To Every Supporter: Thank You

To every vet nurse, veterinarian, supporter, and learner who enrolled, shared, encouraged, or donated — you made this possible. You are part of the movement that says mental health matters, inclusion matters, and caring for carers matters.

This campaign may have wrapped, but the work continues. Sophie’s Legacy will keep advocating, educating, and uplifting our profession — and we’ll keep standing with them. 💛</p
