Professional Development Course

AVNAT Registration Points: 5

Non-Accredited

Enrichment has been used by the zoos for many years and is now being utilised in veterinary care to maximise patient care – both in the clinic and at home. Enrichment is when we enhance the quality of animal care by providing appropriate stimuli necessary for optimising psychological and physiological health. We can do this by providing an environment as close to that animal’s natural habitat and stimulating natural behaviours.

This short course will take you through exploring how to do with for many species, enabling you to design and analyse an enrichment program. You’ll be provided with templates you can use to start building your own enrichment program library and service.

Upon finishing this course, you should be able to take your new knowledge and design enrichment programs for any species, enhancing what you can offer your clients as a service in nurse consults and as an adjunct to any behavioural services.
